Wearing sandals that are stylish, is no substitute for safety. If your kitten heeled or peep toed sandals are too small for your feet, then you may not be noticed by others because of your fashion sense, but rather for the infamous squished-toes-limp that comes with wearing tight shoes. And, if they are too large for your feet, then you could end up twisting an ankle. Here are some tips that will help you keep your sandals comfortably on your feet.
Step 1. Make sure that your sandals fit properly. You can have your feet measured for size by one of the sales associate at any shoe store or you can easily measure your feet at home. To properly measure your feet at home you will need:
-blank sheet of paper that is large enough for your whole foot to fit within its borders.
To get the most accurate measurement of your foot size, measure your foot later in the day or the evening. Place your foot on the paper and make sure that you have your weight over that foot so that it is spread flat. Press the flat side of the butter knife against your foot and use it to make outlined impressions of your foot onto the paper. Next, use the pencil to trace the impressions made by the butter knife. Finally, measure the length of the foot and the width of the widest part of the foot. Now you have can use those measurements to purchase the right size sandal for your foot.
Step 2. Never wear stockings with sandals.
Step 3. The proper insole will keep your foot inside of the shoe and slip free. With the many different types of insoles on the market, it may be a little difficult to choose the correct style to fit your need. However, there are insoles that are created just for women’s high heel shoes. They range in style and color, but the clear 3/4 length silicone gel insoles will fit any shoe. The job of the insole is to redistribute your body weight so that you have more stability while you are walking and standing. The silicone gel will keep your foot right where you placed it within the shoe, not allowing the foot to slide forward or shift side to side in the shoe while you are walking.
Step 4. For perfect placement of the silicone insole, follow these tips.
-Make sure that the inside of the shoe is clean and dry.
-Before removing the adhesive covering, line the heel of the insole up with the heel of the shoe to mark your spot for placement.
-Now peel the protective covering off of the adhesive to the insole and press it firmly into place inside of the shoe.
Now that you know how to keep a sure and steady step, making that unforgettable first impression on others will not have to end with an ice pack and an elevated ankle.
